I founded Wordsworth Gardens in Christchurch in 2024 with the purpose of creating a company which offered premium gardening services at affordable prices.

When I was a young boy my parents bought an undeveloped and overgrown hillside section for our first home. My mother was a teacher and avid gardener. I was home-schooled initially and focused a lot of learning on horticulture. Some of my earliest memories are of helping them clear weeds, dig pathways and plant native flora.

As a teen my first after school job was mowing lawns and weeding for members of the church my family attended. My father is a builder and taught me many practical skills and a hard work ethic. 

I spent 10 years in different construction trades learning everything I now use practically when designing and on the tools landscaping.

Gardening and lawn care remained a hobby of mine at home this whole time, until a period of unemployment following a move to Christchurch in 2017. I did a lot of volunteer work, helping out at Trees for Canterbury & other organizations. I took a temporary job gardening for the council; realised I loved working in nature and never looked back. When my contract expired I started working as a sole trader. I took on jobs as needed and learned anything I needed to on the fly.
